Salesforce and Google Cloud announced an expanded strategic partnership during the Cloud Next '26 conference in Las Vegas on April 22, 2026. The collaboration is designed to enable autonomous AI agents to execute end-to-end workflows across both platforms, specifically integrating Slack, Google Workspace, Gemini Enterprise, and Salesforce Agentforce. The initiative aims to resolve long-standing challenges associated with fragmented data and disconnected enterprise systems.

The focus of the expansion is agentic interoperability, which allows AI agents to operate seamlessly across the two ecosystems. According to Salesforce, this integration addresses the hidden toggling tax, a phenomenon where employees lose significant productivity by switching between different applications to complete a single task. Under the new framework, an AI agent can retrieve context from a Google Doc, summarize a meeting transcript from Google Meet, and then trigger a specific approval process or update a record within the Salesforce CRM.

A core technical component of the partnership is the native support for Google’s Gemini models within Salesforce Agentforce through the Atlas Reasoning Engine. This integration enables agents to utilize multi-modal capabilities—processing text, images, and video—to solve complex customer problems. Additionally, the companies unveiled a zero-copy data integration with Google Lakehouse. This allows Agentforce to access and read data directly from Google’s data warehouses without the need for data duplication or migration, ensuring that security and governance policies remain intact.

Product-specific updates include the immediate release of Slack Enterprise Search for Gmail and Google Drive, which allows users to query their Google Workspace data from within the Slack interface. Furthermore, Agentforce Sales agents have launched in open beta on the Gemini Enterprise Marketplace. This allows sales professionals to engage leads, create meeting briefs, and manage pipelines directly through Gemini. Other scheduled releases include Gemini-powered reasoning for Agentforce in May 2026 and a Slackbot for generating Google Slides by mid-2026.

Srini Tallapragada, President and Chief Engineering Officer at Salesforce, stated that businesses are ready to adopt agentic AI at scale, which requires infrastructure capable of operating across the entire enterprise. Karthik Narain, Chief Product and Business Officer at Google Cloud, noted that the partnership allows customers to securely connect data across both platforms to accelerate business results. The companies reported that more than 1,400 customers are already using Gemini within Agentforce. Wayfair CTO Fiona Tan was cited as an early adopter, noting that the company is using both platforms to embed intelligent agents across its operations.
