Uber Technologies, Inc. and Block, Inc. officially announced a comprehensive global partnership on April 23, 2026, designed to bridge the gap between digital payments and on-demand delivery services. The collaboration introduces two major technical integrations: the connection of Square’s merchant ecosystem with the Uber Eats marketplace and the addition of Cash App Pay as a native payment method for Uber and Uber Eats customers in the United States.

The integration between Square and Uber Eats is intended to simplify the workflow for restaurant operators and retailers. Businesses using Square’s Point of Sale (POS) and Square Kitchen Display System (KDS) can now sync their menus and manage Uber Eats orders directly from their primary dashboard. This centralized system eliminates the requirement for merchants to use separate tablets for delivery orders, thereby reducing counter clutter and minimizing the risk of manual entry errors. The companies stated that this functionality will be available to Square sellers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, with plans to expand into additional international markets later this year.

Simultaneously, the partnership expands payment flexibility for consumers by incorporating Cash App Pay into the Uber and Uber Eats apps. This integration allows Cash App’s millions of active users in the United States to pay for rides and food deliveries using their Cash App balance or linked debit card. By adding this option, Uber aims to provide a more seamless checkout experience for a demographic that increasingly utilizes mobile-first financial tools. The technical deployment of Cash App Pay is scheduled to begin immediately for all U.S.-based users.

Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty, Senior Vice President of Delivery at Uber, noted that the partnership is a direct response to feedback from merchant partners who requested more integrated tools to manage their omnichannel sales. He emphasized that the collaboration with Square will help businesses of all sizes operate more efficiently. On behalf of Block, Square’s Head of Product, Saumil Mehta, highlighted that the integration provides a unified view of business operations, allowing sellers to track in-person and online sales in one place.

While the financial specifics of the deal were not made public, the partnership represents a significant alignment between two of the largest players in the gig economy and fintech sectors. Uber Eats, which serves over 1 million merchant partners globally, continues to invest in software integrations to maintain its competitive position. For Block, the deal increases the utility of Cash App Pay and strengthens Square’s value proposition for mid-market sellers. Both companies confirmed that they will continue to explore further opportunities for collaboration in the areas of loyalty programs and merchant financing.
