IBM and Oracle Corporation officially expanded their long-standing strategic partnership on May 4, 2026. The new agreement focuses on the integration of IBM’s generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies with Oracle’s cloud infrastructure and enterprise application suite. This expansion is centered on two primary initiatives: the deployment of IBM watsonx Orchestrate AI agents within Oracle environments and the expanded availability of Red Hat solutions through the Oracle Cloud Marketplace.
A core component of the announcement is the launch of IBM watsonx Orchestrate AI Agents specifically tailored for Learning and Development (L&D) and Talent Acquisition. These AI agents are designed to assist human resources departments by automating complex workflows, such as candidate sourcing, interview scheduling, and the creation of personalized employee upskilling paths. By integrating these agents with Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM), organizations can utilize IBM’s Granite large language models to process internal data and external market trends. Technical specifications indicate that these agents utilize a low-code interface, allowing non-technical HR staff to configure automation sequences without extensive programming.
The partnership also formalizes the planned availability of Red Hat solutions on the Oracle Cloud Marketplace. This includes Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Red Hat OpenShift, the industry’s leading hybrid cloud application platform. This move allows enterprise customers to migrate existing Red Hat workloads to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) while maintaining a consistent operational environment. According to technical documentation released alongside the announcement, the integration supports automated provisioning and unified billing through Oracle’s marketplace platform. This development follows the 2023 certification of RHEL on OCI, marking a deeper technical alignment between the two firms.
The collaboration addresses the growing demand for hybrid and multi-cloud environments where AI is integrated at the data layer. IBM and Oracle confirmed that the watsonx platform will now have enhanced connectivity with Oracle Database Service for Azure and OCI’s distributed cloud offerings. This ensures that data residing in Oracle databases can be securely accessed by IBM’s AI models with minimal latency. Official statements from the companies emphasized that the partnership aims to reduce the complexity of managing disparate cloud environments. IBM’s consulting arm will also expand its dedicated Oracle practice to support the implementation of these new AI and Red Hat solutions for global enterprise clients.
The IBM watsonx Orchestrate AI Agents for L&D and Talent Acquisition are scheduled for general availability starting in the third quarter of 2026. The Red Hat solutions on Oracle Marketplace are expected to begin rolling out in June 2026, with full regional availability across Oracle’s 45 global cloud regions by the end of the calendar year. Both companies stated that existing service-level agreements (SLAs) will remain in place, with joint support teams established to assist customers transitioning to these integrated solutions.
